Why foster with Fostering People in the North West?

Right now, more than 15,000 children are in care across the North West, and that number keeps growing. To meet this need, we’re looking for more amazing people, just like you, who want to change a child’s life through fostering.

We work closely with every local authority in the North West, which means our foster families are always in demand. Because we take time to carefully match each child with the right family, placements usually happen quickly — and in a way that works best for everyone.

As an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ agency, you’ll get dedicated support from an experienced supervising social worker. You’ll also join a strong, close-knit network of foster families who look out for one another and share advice.

We believe strong relationships create safe, nurturing homes. That’s why we focus on building lasting connections with our foster families, so you can feel confident doing the same with the children in your care.

When you foster with us, you’ll also benefit from a generous package of support — one that we’re always working to improve. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved since 2013, but we never stop striving to make fostering even better.

Meet our North West foster care team

Our North West team is led by Service Manager, Lynne Maddocks. Lynne has over 30 years of experience in fostering and has been part of Fostering People for more than 15 years.

She’s supported by Team Manager, Jakki, who has worked with us for over a decade. Together, they lead a dedicated team of four Senior Supervising Social Workers.

Because our social workers live in different parts of the North West, they’re able to offer truly local support. That means our foster families get face-to-face guidance from people who know their community and understand their needs.

How our local team works

At Fostering People in the North West, we work from the communities where our foster families live. Our social workers live locally, so you’ll always have someone nearby who knows the area and can help you access resources when you need them.

We hold support groups and face-to-face training in local community venues. Our foster parents help us choose these venues, so they are easy to reach and flexible for everyone.

We’ve used this home-based approach for years, long before the pandemic. It works well for foster families and staff alike — and our Outstanding Ofsted rating since 2013 proves it.

Our North West fostering community is close-knit. Foster parents form friendships that provide advice, support and encouragement. We welcome new foster families warmly, helping them feel part of our community from day one.
