Consistently Outstanding since 2013

Foster Parent Support Services

A close-knit and supportive team

Providing excellent support to our foster parents is what Fostering People is all about. Our support has an outstanding reputation and is highly accredited.

We understand that the more support you have access to, the more confident you’ll feel. That’s why we’re committed to making sure it’s available for you. Our social workers live and work in our communities. There are other foster parents around you too, and we put you in touch through regular meetings and events. Our whole model is based on being local as well as national to ensure we are there for you, helping you support the children and young people in your care. The quality of this support is respected by local authorities and has been noted by OFSTED and the Care Inspectorate, who commented on how Fostering People’s foster parents feel valued and extremely well supported.

This is reflected in a recent survey of our foster parents, with the following key highlights:

What support you can expect from Fostering People:

Dedicated professional teams:

You’ll have access to social workers, and other professionals – so whenever you need it, expert help is always at hand.

Dedicated Support Group for New Foster Parents:

These support groups give newly approved foster parents the opportunity to meet each other, as well as wider members of the team, share experiences and have any questions answered.  Above all else they are an ideal way to 'settle in' to the role of a foster parent.

Regular supervision:

You’ll have your own dedicated Social Worker who’ll meet up with you regularly to discuss progress, answer any queries and offer guidance when you need it. They’re there for anything you may need.

Support groups:

There are plenty of local groups which bring foster parents together in a professional setting to share experiences with each other. These include Foster Parent Forums and Reflective Practice Groups designed to increase your skills and confidence.

24/7 help:

If you need us out of hours, including bank holidays, weekends and nights, we’re just a phone call away.

Respite care:

When you need a break from the challenges of fostering, we’ll arrange for the child or children in your care to be looked after by another trusted family. We allow up to 14 days respite care a year.

Fun events for families and children:

There’s always something going on locally, including day trips, picnics and other activities, where you can catch up with other families and share good times together.

Membership of Foster Talk:

Foster Talk is an independent organisation which offers impartial advice and support to foster professionals, together with a host of other benefits including insurance and discounts on goods and activities. You’ll get all this FREE.

Helping to provide fun family experiences with discounts at hundreds of attractions and high street stores…
