Christmas Message from Oliver
First of all can I thank everyone for making my first (nearly) year with Fostering People such an enjoyable one. This time last year, I was starting to get my head around the idea that, after nearly 14 years, I was going to soon be moving on from my previous employers.
I was excited by the prospect of joining Fostering People, but also a little apprehensive about what I was going to be leaving behind. 12 months on and I have absolutely no regrets about making the switch. We face the same challenges as all fostering services, but the culture and values that run through all sections of Fostering People set it apart from other agencies and I feel privileged to be a part of it.
A real highlight for me has been meeting our foster carers at the regional forums, earlier in the year in April and May, then more recently in November. As Agency Decision Maker, I get to read a lot of wonderful stories about the work our carers do with the children placed with them, so it is really inspirational for me to get to meet you face to face and connect you properly to the caring that you do.
I also really enjoy listening to your experiences of fostering for FP and responding to the questions you have about the service we provide and where we are going in the future.
Thank you all so much for your ongoing commitment to Fostering People and to the children and young people that you look after. The difference you make is immense and often under appreciated. On behalf of everyone at FP, I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and festive season, and I hope the year ahead is a fantastic one for you and your families.
