This is Zoe
“Zoe is 14 years old. She has been in care since her mum passed away, 3 years ago. Her father comes and goes from her life and has done since her birth. Zoe’s step-father is in custody for abusing her, and she is preparing herself to give evidence to the court via a video link.
Zoe was placed in foster care initially, but the placement broke down due to her being very emotionally damaged by her experiences. She has spent the last 2 years living in a residential children’s home and now she really wants to live in a family environment. More than anything else, Zoe’s hope for the future is to be seen as ‘normal’ and to belong to a family until she reaches adulthood”.
Zoe isn’t a real child, but her story is real.
Foster carers do amazing work every day with children that are unable to live with their own families. In Nottingham over 455 children need a safe and stable home with a foster carer who can look after them for as long as they need it.
