We know that training is a vital part of the fostering journey. After all, the more you know, the bigger the difference you can make to the lives of the children in your care.
That’s why we offer our carers an extensive training programme and the chance to study for formal qualifications including a Level 3 Diploma in Child Care.
Whether you’re a newly approved carer looking to develop new skills or an experienced carer keen to receive specialist training, you’ll have the opportunity to attend a range of courses. These cover a variety of issues, from managing difficult behaviour to understanding self-harm, and we’ll work with you to identify training to meet the needs of you, your family and your foster children.
Best of all, we hold our courses at community venues close to where our carers live, giving you the chance to meet other local carers and benefit from an active, dynamic learning environment.
We also offer online e-learning courses and webinars for some subjects, making it even easier for you to fit training around family life.
Our first webinar is available to watch again. This webinar is aimed at those caring for young people who are about to take their GCSE’s in this academic year and gives you lots of information to help you support young people at this important time.
Listening to you
We’re always keen to learn from our carers, which is why we encourage feedback on our training and are constantly adapting our courses to meet the changing needs of our carers.
