Corporate Governance

Fostering People is a private limited company registered under the Companies Act 1985 (company number 4241833) and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Foster Care Associates Ltd (company number 4322806) and part of The Core Assets Group of Companies.

Fostering People is registered as an Independent Fostering Provider under the provision of the Care Standards Act 2000 and regulated by Ofsted (Ofsted registration number SC043914).

The Fostering People Board of Directors meets regularly and is responsible for strategic direction and corporate and financial governance of the company. The Board Members are Jim Cockburn, Sally Melbourne and Stephen Grosvenor.

The Managing Director of Fostering People, Sally Melbourne is the 'Responsible Individual'. Sally Melbourne reports directly to the Board and line manages the Fostering People Operational Manager, John Platt who is the 'Registered Manager'. 

Part of the Core Assets Group

The Core Assets Group of Companies is owned by its founders, Jim Cockburn and Jan Rees. Both Jim Cockburn and Jan Rees remain involved with the running of the organisation, with Jim Cockburn appointed as the Executive Chairman and Jan Rees as a Non-Executive Director. The Core Assets Group of Companies is a combination of 'for profit' and 'not for profit' legal entities. Price Waterhouse Cooper is the Group's global auditor and all accounts are published.

Besides Jim Cockburn and Jan Rees, the work of The Core Assets Group of Companies is managed by a Board of Directors, consisting of six Executive Directors and two Non-Executive directors, one of whom is wholly independent.

In 2005, The Core Assets Group of Companies was the first UK Independent Fostering Provider (IFP) to establish an operation outside of the UK by trading in the Republic of Ireland under the Fostering First brand. In 2009, Fostering First International Limited was incorporated into The Core Assets Group of Companies, to develop and establish operations in Australia, New Zealand, Mainland Europe and Canada
